In the video, seen on Tuesday, the former Ebonyi State governor described how a conflict with the female landowner led to the government acquiring her remaining property.
David Umahi admitted that the land was not originally part of the acquisition plan but said her opposition influenced his decision.
“I didn’t want to take the woman’s remaining land, but when she started making troubles, I said they should go and acquire the land. I’m the one, not any other person else,” Umahi bragged in the video.
Umahi did not mention where the land is located or explain the legal steps, if any, that were taken before the property was acquired.
His comments have sparked concerns about possible misuse of authority and whether due process was followed.
KanyiDaily recalls that Oyo governor, Seyi Makinde criticized David Umahi, for avoiding direct answers regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
