The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has come under criticism after a video showed him boasting about directing officials to take over a woman’s land following a disagreement with her.

In the video, seen on Tuesday, the former Ebonyi State governor described how a conflict with the female landowner led to the government acquiring her remaining property.
David Umahi admitted that the land was not originally part of the acquisition plan but said her opposition influenced his decision.
“I didn’t want to take the woman’s remaining land, but when she started making troubles, I said they should go and acquire the land. I’m the one, not any other person else,” Umahi bragged in the video.
Umahi did not mention where the land is located or explain the legal steps, if any, that were taken before the property was acquired.
His comments have sparked concerns about possible misuse of authority and whether due process was followed.

When Nigerians hit the street, we will go to these politicians houses and drag them out. That bold statement will be made to our faces because who do you think you are over 200+ million citizens? https://t.co/DaOVPF20RK

KanyiDaily recalls that Oyo governor, Seyi Makinde criticized David Umahi, for avoiding direct answers regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
