Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has expressed frustration over the country’s condition, saying Nigerians should not expect positive change from leaders he described as oppressors.

In a post on his Instagram page on Saturday, Emenike stated that insecurity has worsened to the point where people are now afraid to travel by road because of kidnappings.
The footballer also claimed that those who speak out against the government risk being targeted and arrested.
He argued that Nigeria has the natural and human resources to become as developed as the United Arab Emirates, but the progress is being blocked by criminals in positions of power.
Emmanuel Emenike added that public funds are being looted and that political corruption has damaged respect for leadership in the country.
He said, “If you believe in a better country in the hands of your oppressors, you are dreaming. Keep going to church and shout ‘fire’ every day; these people don’t care.
‘No more road trips. Kidnapping everywhere. If you talk, they will set you up and arrest you. Individuals are looting money that belongs to everyone.
‘What stops our country from being like the UAE? We have the resources, but many criminals are in power.
No respect if your father is a political criminal”.
