Reports circulating on social media claim that Elena had previously undergone several BBL surgeries and decided to have another one, which allegedly ended in tragedy.
According to her sister, Elena went in for liposuction and fat transfer to her hips, buttocks, and calves at the Ikoyi-based clinic on February 6.
Two days after the operation, she began experiencing intense pain around the areas where the surgery had been performed.
Medical tests later showed that her white blood cell count was unusually high while her blood level had dropped significantly, forcing doctors to transfuse five pints of blood.
Her sister explained that Elena Jessica was placed on antibiotics, but her health did not improve.
Doctors then suggested another procedure to remove excess fat, but her condition worsened.
At that point, the doctors reportedly recommended transferring her to LUTH for further treatment.
However, the family reportedly struggled to secure a bed at LUTH. Elena was said to have remained inside an ambulance for about five hours while crying out in pain.
She was later taken to Emel Hospital in Festac, where the family was asked to pay N1.5 million for a single day in the intensive care unit.
From there, she was moved again to another hospital with a surgeon present, where the cost of removing infected fat from the BBL while in ICU was put at N6 million.
Her sister said the family had to sell some of Elena’s belongings to raise money for the treatment, as she was battling sepsis, a severe infection that spreads through the bloodstream.
She also accused Cynosure Clinic of abandoning Elena during the crisis, adding that the family had already sold most of their properties to cover medical bills.
According to her, their father is retired and had no means of raising additional funds.
The family later faced another demand of N4.5 million to continue Elena’s treatment, but they were unable to provide the money.
Not long after, Elena was said to have passed away. The development has since sparked reactions from Nigerians online.
Meanwhile, Nollywood actress Anita Joseph reacted saying if she advised women against undergoing BBL procedures, they would start ccriticizing her.
