Protests were held in different states, including Lagos, Kano, Niger, Sokoto, Gombe, Kaduna, Bauchi, and Yobe.
Those who joined the rallies criticized the military operation carried out by the U.S and Israel, which led to Khamenei’s death along with members of his family.
During the protests, participants carried Iranian flags, held up images of Khamenei, and displayed banners condemning both countries while declaring support for Iran.
The demonstrations follow rising tension in the Middle East after coordinated strikes by Washington and Tel Aviv on Iranian targets.
The US and Israel have said the attacks were meant to weaken Iran’s military strength and prevent further escalation in the region.
However, the action has sparked anger among Iran’s allies and sympathizers in parts of Africa and the Middle East.
In Nigeria, the IMN has long shown support for Iran and its leadership, often organizing marches in reaction to major events involving the country.
In the past, some of these protests have led to confrontations with security agencies.
Amid the latest developments, the acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, directed police commissioners nationwide to strengthen security in their respective states.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the move is intended to prevent any possible security issues linked to the growing global tensions.
