El-Rufai is currently facing several charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), mainly linked to alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office.
Speaking after the court session, his lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated delay in hearing the bail application, describing it as politically driven.
The case has continued to attract wide public interest, with heavy security deployed around the court premises.
El-Rufai arrived at the court around 9 a.m. in a convoy, accompanied by ICPC officials and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Supporters of the former governor gathered outside the court during the proceedings, while security personnel controlled the area and limited movement.
Journalists were not allowed inside the courtroom, as the hearing is expected to centre on arguments from both the defence and the prosecution over the bail request.
During the previous hearing, El-Rufai’s legal team argued that he is not a flight risk and would meet any conditions set by the court.
However, the prosecution insisted that the seriousness of the charges should be taken into account before any decision is made.
With the adjournment, El-Rufai will remain in custody until June, when the court is expected to decide whether he will be granted bail or kept in detention.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Federal High Court in Kaduna recently granted bail for Nasir El-Rufai in the sum of ₦200 million over a case involving alleged money laundering and fraud.
