Former NFF President Ibrahim Galadima Dies After Protracted Illness

Ibrahim Galadima, a former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has died at the age of 74.

Kano Pillars, a team he helped found, confirmed his death in a statement on Saturday.

The club said he died after a protracted illness and that his janazah prayer is scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m. at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano.

Ibrahim Galadima led the NFF from 2002 to 2006. He was succeeded by Sani Lulu after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Born on June 14, 1951, Galadima was described by Kano Pillars as one of the club’s founding figures when it was created in 1991.

Over the years, Ibrahim Galadima held several key roles in sports administration.

He served as chairman of the Kano State Football Association from 1977 to 1979 and later led the Kano State Sports Council as executive chairman between 1981 and 1983.

In 1984, Galadima became a member of the caretaker committee of the National Sports Commission.

He was also elected first vice-president of the Nigerian Olympic Committee in 1985, a position he held until 1987.

Galadima also played a part in Nigeria’s hosting of the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, where he headed the Kano sub-committee.
