FG Declares Wednesday, Thursday As Public Holidays For Eid-el-Kabir Celebration
The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

This was made known on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
The statement said the decision shows the government’s recognition of the religious importance of the festival to millions of Muslims in Nigeria and around the world.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims at home and abroad, describing Eid-ul-Adha as an important Islamic celebration that represents sacrifice, obedience to God, and care for others.
He encouraged Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray and reflect on the nation’s peace, security, and development.
“The Federal Government urges all Nigerians to use this period for prayer and sober reflection, asking for divine guidance upon the country as it continues its pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity for every citizen,” the statement read.
The minister also urged Nigerians to promote unity, peaceful living, and brotherhood during the celebration.
The Federal Government wished Muslims across the country a happy, peaceful, and blessed Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
