The demonstration took place at the Ikeja Underbridge, where many people gathered to express frustration over the rising cost of living and the worsening security situation across Nigeria.
Protesters carried banners urging the government to take immediate action to address insecurity, saying that many Nigerians continue to lose their lives because of ineffective policies.
Some of the messages on the placards included: “No Democracy Without Security,” “End Insecurity and Kidnapping,” “End Bad Governance,” and “Free All Abducted Children, Teachers, Farmers,” among others.
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation, assuring Nigerians that his administration is committed to ending the country’s security challenges.
The president, who is expected to seek re-election in 2027, said his government remains determined to defeat insecurity.
