Female Student Found Dead After Being Killed By Suspected Ritualist In Kogi

A female student has been found dead along the Felele–Lokoja Road in Lokoja after she was allegedly killed by suspected ritualistsin Kogi State.

The victim, identified as Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, was said to be in her final year, though there were disagreements about the school she attended.

Her body was reportedly discovered by the roadside near the Crusher area on Saturday night, shortly after she was allegedly abandoned there.

An identity card found on her gave her name as Idoko Sarah Ojodomo and listed her as a student in the Department of Office Technology Management, School of Management Studies at Kogi State Polytechnic.

The card also showed she had been admitted into a Higher National Diploma programme for the 2024/2025 session.

However, the police later corrected this, stating that she was actually a student of Federal University Lokoja and not the polytechnic.

A local source said someone passing by around 8 p.m. noticed a vehicle stop briefly near the spot before driving off. Not long after, the body was found.

The same source added that there were questions about the condition of the body, as there were no clear signs that any organs had been removed.

The Association of Nigeria Female Students (ANFS), Kogi State chapter, condemned the killing, describing it as “inhuman and unfortunate.”

In a statement, the group’s coordinator, Celina Ojoniko James, urged security agencies to carry out a full investigation and ensure those responsible are punished.

The Association of Nigeria Female Students (ANFS), Kogi State Chapter, is deeply saddened by the tragic m8rder of Miss Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, a final-year student whose lifeless body was reportedly discovered along Crusher Road, Felele, Lokoja,” the statement read.

The association also called on authorities to improve safety around campuses and student areas to prevent similar incidents.

Confirming the case, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, said investigations are ongoing to determine what happened and identify those involved.

He noted that preliminary findings show the victim was a student of the Federal University Lokoja.

Kankarofi said, “For now, we are not ready to disclose much about the ongoing investigation.

We will make our findings public at the appropriate time for the law to take its course.”

At the time of filing this report, neither the Federal University Lokoja nor Kogi State Polytechnic had released any statement on the incident.

KanyiDaily also reported how a student stabbed her boyfriend to death during an argument over failure to give her N2,500 to plait her hair in Ekiti State.
