Speaking during a recent TikTok livestream, the singer, who now resides in the U.S., said one of the major differences he has noticed is the absence of constant requests for money from street beggars and area boys, which he frequently encountered while living in Lagos.
BNXN explained that although many people in the U.S are also dealing with financial challenges, the day-to-day pressure on residents is not the same as what he experienced in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
According to him, Lagos ranks among the most expensive places he has lived, even comparing it unfavorably with Los Angeles.
He said that apart from accommodation costs, many everyday expenses in Los Angeles are relatively affordable.
The singer revealed that he spends about $12,000 every month on rent in the US, stressing that there are usually fewer unexpected financial obligations compared to life in Lagos.
Buju BNXN said, “I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here.
“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive. For instance, I am paying $12,000 monthly for my rent. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good”.
KanyiDaily recalls that Buju BNXN recently criticized American rapper Fat Joe for what he described as a biased view of African music and its artists.
