The dispute began after Seyi Vibez criticised Damilola Akinwunmi, the CEO of Dapper Music, on X.

The singer accused the music executive of breaking contractual agreements and mishandling money.

Akinwunmi is currently in a relationship with Hilda Baci.

In his posts, Seyi Vibez also alleged that Akinwunmi was using money from an artiste’s music catalogue to fund Hilda’s Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

He further claimed that he once ate food prepared by Hilda and that it nearly killed him.

In a letter dated August 15, Hilda’s lawyers accused the singer of making false, malicious and defamatory statements about their client.

The legal team said the posts had attracted about 4.3 million views, 7,100 reposts, 3,000 comments and 45,000 likes.

They also claimed that the comments had led to increased harassment of Hilda online, including abusive messages and comments.

According to the lawyers, the allegations could amount to libel and offences under Nigeria’s amended Cybercrimes Act.

They demanded that Seyi Vibez delete the two posts and any other content containing the alleged defamatory claims.

The lawyers also requested a public apology and retraction from the singer across all his social media platforms, including X.

Seyi Vibez was given three days after receiving the letter to provide a written commitment that he would stop making, sharing or republishing any allegedly false or defamatory statements about Hilda.

Confirming that you shall henceforth cease and desist from publishing, communicating, repeating, reposting, circulating, or causing or permitting the publication or dissemination of any defamatory, false, malicious, disparaging, injurious or otherwise unlawful statement or content concerning our Client, whether directly or through any third party or account under your control; and attesting to your full compliance with the demands set out herein,” the letter reads.

The singer has since deleted the disputed posts from his X account.
