NYSC Releases Orientation Camp Guidelines For Prospective Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued new guidelines for prospective corps members preparing for the upcoming orientation camp, stressing the importance of safety and proper documentation.

In a statement shared on its X page on Monday, August 3, the NYSC advised all prospective corps members to avoid travelling to their orientation camps at night for security reasons.

“Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the NYSC stated.

The scheme also warned that anyone whose graduation date on their call-up letter does not match the date on their statement of results will not be allowed to register at the camp.

“Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call-up letters and the date on their statement of results will not be registered in the orientation camp,” it said.

According to the NYSC, affected candidates should resolve any differences in their academic records through their Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before arriving at the orientation camp.

“They should sort out such issues with the Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to the camp,” the statement added.

The agency also reminded prospective corps members to print, sign, and bring their registration form, as it will be required during the registration process at camp.

“Prospective Corps Members are advised to print and sign the form, which is to be submitted during registration at the orientation camp,” it stated.

For those who need to correct their date of birth, the NYSC explained that they must first obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN.

Candidates should then log in to their NYSC dashboard, select the “Correction of Date of Birth” option, enter the verification PIN, choose the appropriate WAEC examination details, verify the information, and submit the request.

The NYSC encouraged all prospective corps members to follow these guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth registration process and avoid unnecessary delays or problems during the orientation exercise.
