Tinubu Receives Adeleke At Aso Villa After Osun Election Victory

Adeleke arrived at the State House around 5:20 pm, shortly after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He then went to the president’s office for a closed-door meeting.

The meeting followed Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 Osun governorship election, where he secured 511,067 votes on the Accord Party platform.

He defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas and emerged ahead of 14 other candidates.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.

Following the election, Tinubu congratulated Adeleke and described his victory as evidence of the confidence Osun voters have in him.

The president also urged Adeleke to use his second term to bring the people together and focus on development, stability and economic growth across the state.

However, the APC has disputed the election result.

Oluwole Oke, Director-General of the party’s governorship campaign committee, said the APC would not rush to congratulate Adeleke because it still believes he did not win the highest number of valid votes in the election.
