The 66-year-old actor made the revelation in a recent interview with Feel Right News TV.
Yemi Solade said the incident happened many years ago, before he became well known in the Nigerian film industry, when he was still a student.
He explained that he was approached by people who wanted him to act as a person with a disability during a church programme where a supposed miracle healing was planned.
Solade said he accepted the offer and was paid for taking part in the staged event.
“I have been used for a miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted as a cripple; they paid,” he said.
The actor said several others were also brought in for similar roles and that they sometimes spent the money they received on alcohol.
“We would use the money to drink beer. They would come and carry us from our department,” he said.
Solade recalled that the participants would be picked up from their department and taken to the location where the programme was being held.
He said the people who organised the alleged fake miracle are still alive but chose not to disclose their identities.
“The people involved are still alive; I don’t just want to mention names,” he added.
The actor also spoke about his decision to stop attending church services more than 10 years ago.
Solade said he stopped going to church about 13 years ago because he no longer enjoyed the experience, although he still considers himself a child of God.
He stressed that his relationship with God does not depend on attending church services on a particular day.
Solade said his belief in God remains strong, adding that he would not be alive without God.
