“You Didn’t Inspire, You Copied Me” — Crystal Nicole Accuses Uche Montana of Plagiarism

American digital creator Crystal Nicole has accused Nigerian actress Uche Montana of allegedly replicating her content and presenting it to a company as part of a sponsored deal without appropriately acknowledging its original source.

Crystal explained that she had been reluctant to make the matter public because she accepts that creators may sometimes borrow ideas or draw creative influence from each other. However, she maintained that the situation in question was far beyond ordinary creative influence.

She described what allegedly happened as plagiarism rather than inspiration.

Crystal claimed that Uche reproduced one of her videos in considerable detail, following its wording, presentation style, creative arrangement, sequence and central idea before using the recreated material in connection with a commercial partnership.

She disclosed that she reached out to the actress after publicly expressing her concerns. However, Crystal said she was not satisfied with Uche’s suggestion that the disagreement should be approached with respect.

The content creator also alleged that Uche temporarily modified the caption to acknowledge Crystal as the source of the inspiration, but later deleted the reference and replaced it with her own name.

Crystal maintained that simply acknowledging someone as an inspiration does not automatically amount to proper recognition. She explained that genuine creative influence should involve developing an existing concept into a separate and distinctive piece of work.

She said the situation was particularly painful because of the amount of effort she puts into developing fresh ideas and creating original material, adding that she felt the alleged reproduction deprived her of deserved recognition for her creative work.
