Oshoala, Ajibade, Plumptre, 21 Others Make Super Falcons Squad For 2025 WAFCON

Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has announced his 24-player squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with star striker Asisat Oshoala and defender Ashley Plumptre among the big names heading to Morocco.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade also makes the list, which includes 11 players set to feature at the tournament for the first time.

Three home-based players were selected as well, a big opportunity for them to prove themselves at the tournament, which runs from July 5 to 26, 2024.

Nigeria, placed in Group B, will begin their campaign against Tunisia on July 6, followed by matches against Botswana (July 10) and Algeria (July 13).

The four semi-finalists will automatically qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The team is aiming for a strong performance in Morocco, as they continue their quest for a record-extending WAFCON title and a spot in the next World Cup.
