The Niger State Police Command has arrested a nursing student following the death of a university lecturer in Minna.

A security analyst Zagazola Makama, said the incident happened on January 27, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m.
“On January 27, 2026 at about 10:00 a.m., Engr. Dr. Otori Abdulfatai Aiyede of the Federal Polytechnic Bida visited Stella Joseph, a student of the Niger State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Tunga, Minna, to introduce himself as the new lecturer at the university.”
“During the visit, the suspect was served spaghetti and egg by the student. After the meal, he began convulsing and collapsed,” the source said.
Police officers from the Tudun-Wada Division were alerted and quickly went to the scene.
The lecturer was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where doctors confirmed he was dead on arrival. His body was later taken to the hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy.
The nursing student has been arrested, while police said investigations are still ongoing to determine what led to the lecturer’s death.
