Hellas Verona FC striker Gift Orban could face trouble after a video showed him appearing to strike a fan.

The incident happened after Verona lost 1–0 to AC Milan on Sunday.

Adrien Rabiot scored in the 41st minute, which turned out to be the winning goal.

Verona’s form has been very poor. Since December 28, they have lost 14 of their last 18 Serie A matches.

The team is currently 19th in the table, ten points away from safety with only five games left, so avoiding relegation looks very unlikely.

It seemed the frustration surrounding Verona’s predicament got to Orban during a stunning post-match sequence of events.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reported that Orban did not stop his car when a fan asked for a photo.

The fan then hit his car, and Orban got out and confronted him physically.

The situation ended quickly when a Verona staff member stepped in and got Orban back into his car.

A video of the incident was later posted on X by ArteDelCalcio and spread widely online.

Following the incident, Verona released a statement saying they strongly reject and condemn any form of violence.

The club added that it is gathering more details about what happened.

Hellas Verona FC, with reference to the incidents that took place after the Hellas Verona v Milan match in the parking area adjacent to the Bentegodi Stadium, involving player Gift Orban and a group of supporters, firmly dissociates itself from and condemns any form of violent conduct.

“The club will continue to gather and assess relevant information,” the statement read.

Gift Orban joined Verona on loan from TSG Hoffenheim last summer, with an option to sign him permanently.

However, this incident and the club’s likely drop to Serie B could affect that decision.

The 23-year-old is Verona’s top scorer in the league this season, with seven goals in 23 matches.

That is his best return since the 2022/23 campaign, when he scored 15 goals in 16 games for KAA Gent in the Belgian Pro League.

Verona will try to get just their fourth league win of the season when they face US Lecce on April 25.
