Our Son Lukmon Was Murdered, He Was A Responsible Married Man and Never Took Alcohol- Lukmon’s Family

The family of Mr. Lukmon Olowu, who was found dead inside his Toyota Corolla car on Sunday, said there was no way he could be the lover of the lady found dead with him.

Lukmon, 39, married with two kids, was a licensing agent.

According to the family, Lukmon couldn’t have been making love to the woman Precious inside his car.

Promise hailed from Cross River State, while her husband, Clement, a commercial bus driver, is from Edo State.

Lukmon’s family members, who gathered at their family house at 56, Shonola Street, Ogba, Lagos, said their son was murdered.

Contrarily to earlier stories that Promise and Lukmon lived in the same compound, New Telegraph’s visit to Ogba proved that Promise lived at 48, Shonola Street, while Lukmon lived at Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos State. Lukmon’s younger brother, Idris Olowu, said Lukmon was not into any relationship with Promise.

Idris said:

“On Saturday evening, Lukmon and about six of his friends, went to a birthday party at Obawole, Iju area. After the party, Lukmon used his car to drive many of his friends to their residences, including Promise.

She also attended the birthday. Promise later called and pleaded with Lukmon to take her to her friend’s place around Excellence Hotel, located at Ogba. We understand that she called her husband, telling him that she would spend the night at her friend’s place, before she called and asked Lukmon to drive her there.

“The next thing we heard was that police called us that our brother was dead, that they had found Promise and Lukmon dead inside his car. We heard they were found Naked. We all went to the police station to confirm the information.

Before the police drove the car to the station, they took pictures of their dead bodies. We saw a picture of our brother, naked and his two legs raised and placed on the dashboard. While the dead woman was half naked; she was sitting beside him at the front seat.

Her head rested lifelessly on the car seat headrest. “I can swear with my life, that my brother didn’t have anything to do with Promise. He was a responsible man, married with children. He didn’t take alcohol.

I learnt that woman was dating a guy called Femi, Promise’s husband, Clement, had warned the guy several times to stay away from his wife. Even, when the incident happened, the same Femi came to tell us that the trap was meant for him.” Idris further disclosed that Promise lived close to a beer parlour.

It was alleged that many people knew the late woman. Idris further said:

“ She called her husband that night, that she would spend the night at a friend’s place. It was not the first time Lukmon had used his car to convey Promise and other people to different places after parties.

The woman always goes to party with youths living in the area because she was a friendly type.” Idris recalled that when they got to the police station on Sunday, Promise husband, Clement, said that the dead person should have been Femi, not Lukmon.

Idris said:

“To my surprise, when we got to Area G Police Command, Promise’s husband said that he thought it was Femi that died. Even Femi’s phone was brought out from Promise’s handbag by her husband.”

When NewTelegraph visited Promise’s house yesterday evening, some of her neighbours said she had no job, but frequent the beer parlour where she used to drink beer.

One of the residents, who does not want her name mentioned, said:

“The death of the woman came to every one of us as a surprise. Promise had a child and had a friend at the beer parlour joint. She used to stay at that club with her friend, drinking, whenever her husband was not around. It was at this club that some men, including the one that died with her, met her.”

The resident further said:

“There was a day I warned her to stop going to the beer parlour because I had seen a situation where some of the men that came to the joint, would harass women.

That was why I warned her to stay away from the place to avoid what eventually happened now.”

When a correspondent approached Clement, who wore a T-Shirt and brown trousers, he snapped:

“ No! No! I can’t talk for now.” He crossed to the other side of the road and disappeared.

People in the area said that the house he entered is his grandmother’s apartment. Attempts to speak with Femi failed too.

When his phone was called, he picked and when news reporters told him the reason for calling, he cut off and switched off.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olarinde Famous-Cole, said that police were carrying out intensive investigations to know the circumstances surrounding the death of the couple.

He added: “We got to know about this incident barely 24 hours ago. We are still investigating. We have to carry out autopsy to ascertain the cause of their death.”

Donald Trump To Stop US Green Card Diversity Lottery Program After New York Terror Attack

United States President Donald Trump has blamed The Diversity Visa Lottery Program for the deadly New York terror attack that took the lives of many people in the US on Tuesday.

Donald Trump criticised his country’s visa system in the wake of a terrorist attack in New York City that left eight dead, blaming Democrats and pressing for a “merit based” program for immigrants to the United States.

“The terrorist came into our country through what is called the Diversity Visa Lottery Program, a Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based,” Mr Trump tweeted, referring to the Senate Democratic leader.

“We are fighting hard for merit based immigration, no more Democrat lottery systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter),” he also tweeted.

Senator Schumer hit back, saying in a statement he had “always believed and continue to believe that immigration is good for America”.

“[Mr Trump is] politicising and dividing America, which he always seems to do at times of national tragedy.”

Since taking office, Mr Trump has been pressing for a ban on travellers entering the United States from some predominantly Muslim countries.

“I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already extreme vetting program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!” he also wrote on Twitter.

Six victims were pronounced dead at the scene and two more at a nearby hospital, Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.

Five of the dead were Argentinian tourists, visiting New York as part of a group of friends celebrating the 30th anniversary of their high school graduation, the Government there said.

Belgium’s Foreign Minister said a Belgian citizen was also among those killed.

A US law enforcement official described the suspect as a US immigrant born in Uzbekistan, a landlocked, predominantly Muslim country in central Asia that was once part of the former Soviet Union.

CNN and NBC News reported that the man, identified by officials as Sayfullo Saipov, entered the US in 2010.

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev told Mr Trump his Government would do all it could to help investigate the “extremely brutal” attack.

Although authorities from the mayor’s office to the US Department of Homeland Security all swiftly branded the attack an act of terrorism, Mr Cuomo stressed that the suspect was believed to have acted alone.

Asked whether the suspect had been known to authorities before the attack, Mr Cuomo said in a CNN interview, “it’s too early to give you a definitive answer”.

New photos shows condom and alcohol inside the car of the married lovers who were found dead in Lagos

New details have emerged in the controversy surrounding the death of two married lovers in Lagos.

A lot of rumours have been circulating surrounding the death of the lovers. Some people believe they were poisoned or assassinated else where, and then they took their body and car and then staged the scene below….

Others believe they might have died from a faulty Air conditioner in the car.

But then, new pictures have emerged, which shows a condom and alcohol inside the car.

The deceased man is said to be an official of the Lagos State Environmental Maintenance Agency (LASEMA) and has been identified as Olowo Lukman Olayinka. His wife is said to be nursing a baby.

The deceased woman, Nse Promise Nnena, is from Calabar and a mother of four kids.

20-year-old Girl Kills Her Husband And 16 Other Family Members To Escape An Arranged Marriage

A 20-year-old girl from Pakistan poisoned a gallon of milk  and served her husband and all his family members in a bid to escape an arranged marriage.

According to Pakistani officials, so far 16 people have died and 11 more hospitalized.

The newly wed girl has been charged with murder.

21-year-old Aasia Bibi, was forced into an arranged marriage in September with 25-year-old Amjad Akram.

Two months into the marriage in Pakistan, she tried to flee to her parents’ house, but they forcibly took her back.

Bibi then allegedly poisoned a glass of milk to murder her husband. After he refused to drink it, her mother-in-law used it to make a batch of Lassi and served it to 27 members of the family.

A total of 16 people died while 12 others are reportedly still in critical condition.

The exact number of deaths and whether it includes children is disputed. A senior police officer said: “Aasia was forced to marry Amjad against her will.

She was not happy and came back to her parents house after a few days into marriage but her family forcibly sent her back to her in-laws’ house.

Aasia concocted the plot to avenge being married against her will and was provided with poisonous substance by her alleged lover, Shahid Lashari. .

But the plot went awry when Aasia’s husband did not drink the glass of milk she handed to him. Instead, her mother-in-law used the tainted milk to make Lassi.”

See the Faces and Identity of the married lovers who died naked in a car

Few days ago, two lovers were found dead inside a vehicle around Ogba Lagos. The lovers were having sex and died while still naked on Sunday, October 29, 2017.

The dead man has been identified as Olowo Lukman Olayinka and the married mother of four Nse Promise Nnena. Apparently, they lived in the same compound owned by Olayinka’s father while he was also a close friend of Nnena’s husband.

“The early hours of Sunday, the 29th of October, 2017, witnessed a mild drama around Abisogun Leigh Street in Ogba, Ikeja area of Lagos, where two lovers, Olowo Lukman Olayinka and Nse Promise Nnena, were found dead inside a Toyota Corolla car.

The man and his mistress, were believed to be engaging in sex when the sad incident occurred.

But, according to the new information gathered by City Rovers, the lovers may not have died of voodoo or exhaustion as many have been peddling since the unholy discovery was made.

Read the report from City Rovers below;

A new finding, however, revealed that the faulty Air Conditioner in the car may have been the cause of the death of the alleged lovers.

Findings reveal that if the mechanical functions of the car are not up to standard, the chances of a leakage of the car’s exhaust into the vehicle’s cabin while a person is snoozing could increase the risk of suffocation as it would decrease the oxygen level inside the car.

The main thing to watch out, we gathered, is the accumulation of carbon monoxide which can be caused by a leak from the exhaust.

Carbon Monoxide is noted to be poisonous to the blood, but an increase in CO levels in the car could actually compromise the amount of oxygen reaching the blood.

This, in turn, results in the blood carrying more carbon monoxide which ultimately leads to a shock or in severe cases sudden death.

In fact, even in the case of a car with a well-working AC system, the air circulation in closed spaces can be compromised. Even if the air circulates in and out of the car, it’s still not enough for someone breathing air in a closed space.

Additionally, some of the air gets entrapped in the circulation process, thus causing the level of carbon monoxide to increase and the oxygen level to decrease.

Although the duo were reported to have driven to an area behind the Nigeria Institute of Journalism [NIJ], to engage in sex, however, contrary to the belief that she was happily married, the husband was about dissolving the marriage and tomorrow is the new date for the court to hear the divorce matter further.

The young Romeo on the other side worked with the licensing office and he is well known around the area he met his death.

It was passers-by that saw them, in the car with the engine still running with the air conditioner still blowing indicating they did not die of suffocation.”

Meanwhile, there are three more details about the adulterous lovers by Encomium;

1. There have been speculations that the lover may have lodged in a hotel the previous night before their death and when the hotelier found out they were dead, decided to convey them to the spot they were found the following morning without any trace, in a bid not to implicate the management.

2. The deceased man is said to be an official of the Lagos State Environmental Maintenance Agency (LASEMA). His wife is said to be nursing a baby.

3.The deceased woman, Nse Promise Nnena, is from Calabar and a mother of four kids. But some said she has not had a child yet and in the process of divorcing her husband

“Wendy is feeling much better. She overheated because of her heavy costume, makeup, and lights. She was able to finish the show in true Wendy spirit. She will address the incident on tomorrow’s show.”

The host herself later took to Instagram with a video showing a slew of  hydrating liquids in front of her, saying,

“I’m home, I’m hydrating. I will definitely be there tomorrow with the rest of the story.”

Rihanna Channels Queen Nefertiti As She Stuns in Vogue Arabia’s Latest Cover

Rihanna looks stunning on the latest cover of Vogue Arabia.

The 29-year-old star channels Queen Nefertiti, one of Egypt’s most-celebrated figures, in the incredible new shoot, which is shot by Greg Kadel.

The Love on the Brain hitmaker models a striking reptile print jacket, as well as Nefertiti’s iconic blue headpiece.

Opting for full-out drama, Rihanna sports bold blue eye-make up and a shimmering baby pink lipstick as she strikes a pose for the camera.

Other images depict the beauty in a semi-sheer embellished dress, which is paired with a sophisticated blue coat.

Injecting the ensemble with a taste of her signature urban style, the chart-topper also layers a grey hoodie between the glamorous two pieces.

The shoot was no doubt inspired by the singer’s tattoo of Nefertiti, who ruled Egypt alongside her husband Pharaoh Akhenaten, almost 3,500 years ago.

Despite her reign dating back thousands of years, Neferneferuaten Nefertiti remains one of the Middle East’s most beloved icons. Known for her unmatched beauty, the queen had a very active role in the country’s political sphere, giving mankind an early lesson in women empowerment.

Although her death is still shrouded in mystery, the myth of Nefertiti took on a new dimension at the beginning of the 20th century, when German Egyptologist Ludwig Borchardt and his team discovered a painted limestone bust of the royal in Amarna.

It was found in the ruins of workshop of court sculptor Thutmose, and was described by Borchardt as “the most alive Egyptian artwork.”

Speaking about the exciting shoot, Vogue Arabia editor Manuel Arnaut said:

‘We are dedicating the issue to strong and dynamic women who are changing the world.

‘Rihanna, our cover star, is one of them. Not only is she one of the most successful pop icons ever, shaping the entertainment industry with her powerful tunes and unique sense of style, she is also an advocate for diversity.

‘With a crown designed by Faeth Millinery, Rihanna pays homage to this unforgettable queen, who still reigns as one of Ancient Egypt’s most celebrated figures.’

”It was life or death” – Selena Gomez Opens Up On Life Changing Kidney Transplant With Her Best Friend Francia Raisa Who Donated Her Kidney

Earlier in May, Selena Gomez had a kidney transplant thanks to her best friend 29 year old actress Francia Raisa who donated one of her kidneys.

Selena Gomez and the best friend who gave her the organ are sitting down to reveal more about the operation which saved the singer’s life.

The 25-year-old fought back tears as she told  Savannah Guthrie how she would have died had it not been for Francia Raisa, 29, her best friend who volunteered to give one of her kidneys up when Selena’s went into failure in May.

‘It was really kind of life or death,’ Gomez, whose battle with Lupus is well-documented, told Guthrie.

Gomez, who has since bounced back to work, also revealed that she did not want to ask ‘a single person’ for an organ when she discovered she needed the transplant.

‘My kidneys were just done. That was it and I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life.

That was the day I came home and she volunteered, she did it,’ she said solemnly.

When Guthrie probed: ‘You feel like Francia saved your life?’ the singer responded without hesitation: ‘Because she did. That’s it.

The interview will be shown in three parts; the first two will be aired on Today on Monday October 30 and Tuesday October 31.

The third will be shown on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

X-Factor’s Simon Cowell Breaks Neck, Rushed To Hospital After Falling Down The Stairs – BREAKING NEWS

Simon Cowell has been hospitalized after he reportedly broke his neck when he fell down the stairs this morning while trying to get some milk.

The millionaire music mogul was taken to hospital from his London mansion in the back of an ambulance after the accident between 7.30am and 8.30am today.

The X-Factor star, 58, is believed to be going downstairs to get a cup of hot milk because he was having trouble sleeping when he either slipped or fainted.

It is not known if his partner Lauren or son Eric were at home at the time.

Below is a report via Sun;

The painful kiss saw him in shock, clutching his nose in pain and looking utterly baffled by what had just occurred. Afterwards he was seen holding an ice pack to his face.

Former Barcelona Star Neymar Banned For Physically Assaulting An Opponent

A disciplinary action has been taken against Paris Saint Germain star Neymar for physically assaulting an opponent.

The former Barcelona and Brazil forward has been suspended for one match, following his red card against Marseille on Sunday.

This means the Brazilian will sit out their match against Nice on Friday.

Neymar was sent off late in the 2-2 draw in Le Classique after clashing with Lucas Ocampos, who may have over-dramatised the incident.

It was his second yellow card in three minutes.

At the time of his dismissal, PSG were 2-1 down. But Edinson Cavani managed to earn a point with a late free-kick.

Neymar will face a further one-match suspension if he commits the same offence before the end of the Ligue 1 season.

You’re Not Seeing Double – This Axon M Smartphone Has Two Screens!

The Axon M is certainly one of the most unusual phones we’ve ever seen. With two screens, how could it not be?

The phone has two 5.2″ 1080p displays — one on the front, one on the back. The back one is attached to a hinge and can be flipped out next to the main one like a book!

OK, you might be wondering why. Well, for most of us, there might not be a good answer to that question — at least not one good enough to warrant buying a new phone. Still, there are some pretty neat things you can do with the Axon M, and I was able to see a few for myself when I got an advance look at the Axon M not too long ago.

The second screen can run one app while the main screen runs another, which opens up some interesting possibilities if you’re a phone-only person these days. You can watch a video while running a messenger app to chat with friends about it, or have a note-taking app open on one screen while reading a document on the other. It’s kind of like the multitasking mode we see on other Android phones, but now you get two whole screens worth of room to work with!

If you do a lot of reading on your phone, you might want to use the two screens together as one.

This turns the Axon M into a small tablet, which I thought worked pretty well for browsing the web. It might not be to everyone’s liking, though — there’s a pretty noticeable seam between the two displays that can interrupt your reading flow.

I’m most skeptical of mirror mode, although the ZTE reps I talked to did show me a couple pretty cool uses for it. In this one, both displays show the same thing — useless if you’re by yourself, but if you need to kill some time with a friend, you can set the phone up like a tent and the two of you can watch the same video on a full smartphone screen or play a two-player game.

For right now, the Axon M still (fairly) looks and feels like a first generation device. It’s thick and angular, and will be way more awkward in your pocket than most other phones on the market. And, while I would generally suggest not dropping your phone ever, I’d be extra cautious with this one — you’ve got two displays to try to prevent from cracking now (Gorilla Glass 5 is nice, but nowhere near shatter-proof), and when the second screen is folded out, I thought it felt a little fragile in the hand. But, if you hold the phone in landscape orientation, it becomes pretty comfortable to hold. The hinge felt sturdy enough — it doesn’t seem like something that will become loose after just a few months.

The dual-screen design necessitated a lot of compromises, but ZTE was able to turn one into a positive. Because the backside of the phone is a display, it wasn’t possible to put a rear camera on the Axon M. Instead, they just put one 20 MP phase-detect autofocus camera on the front and let software take care of the rest. Usually when you switch from selfie to rear camera mode, the phone changes which camera it uses — the Axon M just changes the display! If you want to use that front camera as a rear camera, the camera app will simply open on the rear display, so you can flip the phone around and snap your shots.

ZTE showed me enough with the Axon M to make me think that a dual-display phone isn’t totally ridiculous — there’s some real potential here with the multitasking capabilities.

If you’re like us and love to play around with new ideas (or fresh takes on old ideas!), the Axon M could be loads of fun. If not, well, a single screen will probably still do you just fine.

”Death is the Best Way To End My Problem”- Nigerian HIV Positive Mother Shares Her Emotional Story

Mrs. Rakiya Zuberu, a HIV positive mum of three has shared her story with Toluwani Eniola where she opened up about her status and being infected by her late husband.

The lady and her kids

Here are excerpts from the chat the lady had with PUNCH newspaper;

Tell us about yourself.

I am from the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. I am 35 years old. I got married at the age of 15. It was not that I desired to get married at that age. As a little girl, there was little I could do to stop the marriage. My father had the final say. Shortly after I was born, my mother parted ways with my father; so, she left me with my father. I lived with my father and my step-mother. I have three children. Two of them are HIV positive.

Did you attend school?

No, I didn’t. Nobody saw any need why I should go to school. None of my parents’ children attended any formal school. I don’t know what it means to go to school.

When did you discover you were HIV positive?

It all started with a strange sickness in 2008. I was rushed to a hospital. The doctor said an HIV test should be conducted on me when they could not understand what was wrong with me. Initially, when they did the test, it showed that I was HIV negative. But I was diagnosed with tuberculosis. So, I started taking drugs for TB for a period of six months. After that period, I felt better. Then I got pregnant with my second child.

I didn’t have money to pay at the hospital. There was a health worker close to my hospital who helped me with the delivery of my child at home. But during the pregnancy, I was always falling sick. When the baby was about three months old, I fell sick again. I started coughing blood. I went to a local chemist where I was given drugs to heal the pains. I finished the medication and went to the chemist for more.

The chemist knew there was more to my illness so he told me to go to a hospital for assistance. It was at the hospital that another test was conducted which showed that I have HIV. At the hospital, I was asked to bring all my children for a test. The same day, the children all tested for HIV. My last two children have the virus. I was told to begin two-month treatment. I could not afford to buy the injection so I didn’t complete the treatment. That was in 2008.

How many wives did your husband have?

My husband was married before he took me in as his wife. But the first wife left him. After then, he didn’t marry any other person.

How did you get HIV?

In 2005, my husband fell sick. We took him to a hospital in Zaria, Kaduna State, where he was treated. He came back home feeling better. But after some time, the sickness returned. That was when he got tested for HIV and it showed he was positive. He said he didn’t believe he could be infected with HIV. Although he knew his status then, he didn’t tell me.

Later in 2008, I discovered I was HIV positive. I went to the hospital to get the anti-retroviral drugs. I realised that when I went to the hospital to collect my drugs, he would ask me to give him out of my own drugs which I did. At a point, his sickness worsened. Doctors said he had a kidney problem and that he needed to do a kidney transplant. He sold half of his plot of land. From Kaduna, he was referred to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria. He was placed on oxygen. He got better but later went into a coma within five days. After he regained consciousness, he insisted that he did not want to stay any longer at the hospital. After five days at the hospital, we brought him back to Kaduna. He didn’t spend up to a month. He died at home.

What did he tell you before he died?

Before he died, I had suffered a lot. I was so exhausted after bringing him back home. He called me and sat me down. He told me he needed to tell me something important. He told me he knew he would die any moment from then. He said he needed to seek forgiveness from me on a matter. I was curious; so, I asked him to go ahead. He said, “Please forgive me for all I have put you through. I knew I had HIV but I am sorry I didn’t tell you.” I told him there was no need to beg me for forgiveness. I complained bitterly about my sufferings and what life would be for me if he dies. He said, “Anybody that comes to this world must definitely die.” When he died, I felt bad.

How have you been surviving since his death?

It has been continuous suffering for the past nine years. Most times, my children and I skip meals to survive. It’s becoming unbearable for my children. Most times, when I run into a crisis, I would start crying. Sometimes, I think about killing myself because the suffering is much. Sometimes, I ask myself the essence of my life. Sometimes I say, “Why don’t I just die?” But anytime I survive the crisis, I would become remorseful for thinking about killing myself. But most times, I feel death is the best way to end the problem.

My children are not in school. I would rather use the little money I get on the street to feed them than think of enrolling them in a school. Apart from not attending school, the children are malnourished. Sometimes, they stay for 10 days without bathing with soap. Sometimes, we stay for weeks without washing our clothes because rather than use the money to buy soap, we would rather use it to buy food. My daughter’s limb is paralysed as a result of complications from HIV.

Fatimah is about 13. Abdulazeez is over eight years. Fatima likes school and would like to go to school. The ARVs are free in the hospital but other drugs are not. Even though the ARV is free, sometimes, I don’t have the money to go to the hospital to get it. I used to go to a mosque in Tundun Wada and a market to beg for alms.

I want my children to be educated. But there is no money to do so. If there is any way my children can get help to go to school, I would be very grateful. Even if they cannot go to school, at least if I am able to feed them, I would be happy. I used to go to the villages before to buy maize and sweet potatoes for sale. But now things have been so hard that I can’t buy farm produce any longer.

Why didn’t you seek assistance from your family?

When I tested positive to HIV, I went to my father. I told him about my plight. He said I should ignore the diagnosis, that if I had HIV, I would have died immediately after contracting it. He simply told me there was nothing like HIV. Since then, I stopped going to him again. He killed my spirit.

Do you experience any stigma as a result of your situation?

One of my friends is HIV positive. At the hospital, they gave us one handbill with the inscription, “HIV does not kill.” She showed people her handbill and since then, people started running away from her. She was so sick that I was the only person going to visit her. The woman got better. I realised that if I disclosed my status, it would only worsen my problem as people would run away from me as well.

Why didn’t you remarry after your husband’s death?

After my husband died, some men showed interest in marrying me. I told them my children were still very small. Besides, I didn’t want to disclose my status. One particular man came and insisted he wanted to marry me. I told him he could not marry me. He wanted me to tell him my problem. I told him I was sick.

He said no problem, that he would marry me despite the sickness. He insisted on knowing why I said I could not marry just any man. I refused to tell him. Then he started mentioning names of sicknesses one by one until he mentioned HIV. When he mentioned HIV, I said yes. Then he said, “No problem. I will marry you.” But from then, I never heard from him again. Nobody wants to marry an HIV positive person. Since then, nobody has come to ask for my hand in marriage. I will like to get married because I’m still young.

What lessons has your illness taught you as a mother?

I have gone through a lot in life. I wish my husband told me his HIV status and began treatment early enough. He wouldn’t have died. Also, we were told during the counselling sessions at the hospital that if more women knew their status, they could protect their children from contracting the virus when they are pregnant. I never knew all these. I gave birth to my children at home. I regret that my children have to live with the virus and go through the pain of taking drugs every day.

I want to advise more women to know their HIV status. That way, they can protect their unborn children. There is still a lot of ignorance in Kaduna about HIV. The government has a lot to do. All I want in life is to see my children succeed and never to suffer. My prayer is to get a drug that will cure HIV. I appeal to people in government to help me.

OMG! Man Kills His Neigbour in Lagos Over Generator Fumes

A man identified as Ibrahim Tijani allegedly hacked his neighbour to death following a dispute about the fumes from his generator.

He was arraigned before a Lagos State High Court in Igbosere to face trial.

According to The Nation, Tijani, 31, was accused of slashing Bashorun Okanla‎won, 57, in the left hand, leg and waist with a machete in the presence of Okanlawon’s son Adeola.

He left Okanlawon and went after Adeola who had been begging him to stop. The teenager fled and hid behind a cashew tree.

When Tijani returned, Okanlawon had bled to death.

Adeola told Justice Adedayo Akintoye yesterday that the incident followed a fight between his father and the defendant over the fumes from Tijani’s generator.

The 16-year-old gave his testimony while being led in evidence by Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem.

According to him, Tijani attacked his father with a machete he picked from a food vendor.

Tijani, who was arraigned on January 21, 2016, is standing trial on a one-count charge of murder.

According to Kazeem, the defendant, who along with the deceased lived in an uncompleted building at Okun in Ajah area of Lagos, committed the offence at about 2:20am on February 8, 2015.

He said the offence is punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

Tijani pleaded not guilty.

During cross-examination by the defendant’s counsel Onome Akpeneye, Adeola, the first prosecution witness, explained that the incident was preceded by a fight.

He said that night, he and his father were bothered by the fumes which was wafting into their room from Tijani’s small generator.

The deceased complained to the defendant about the smoke and asked him to reposition the generator but the defendant refused, following which the deceased turned the generator funnel away from his room.

A fight, which broke out, was settled by neighbours and, afterwards, an Islamic cleric reconciled the duo.

According to Adeola, it was on their way from the cleric’s home that Tijani attacked the deceased.

The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in the case, Sergeant David Abu, also testified as the second prosecution witness.

He stated that at about 2:13am on the day of the incident, a bleeding Tijani came to report a case of assault at the Agbongon Police Division.

But, about 10 minutes later, the neighbours brought the lifeless body of the deceased to the station in a tricycle.

He said “In my investigation review, on February 8, 2015, the defendant and the deceased were living in the same uncompleted building at Okun Ajah. The deceased complained to the defendant to adjust his generator as the smoke from the generator was entering his room.”

Abu said the deceased complained to the cleric, who owns a block industry, following which the cleric sent for the defendant and reconciled the duo.

According to him, on their way home from the Alfa’s place, the defendant picked a machete from a food vendor’s place and started chasing the deceased who tripped on a block and fell. The defendant, he added, started cutting the deceased.

“He cut his left hand, leg and waist. When the son of the deceased, one Adeola Okanlawan, started shouting ‘don’t kill my father,’ he started chasing the boy who hid behind a cashew tree. When the defendant saw that the deceased could no longer move, he picked up a bottle and stabbed himself on the left arm and ran to the Police station to make a report of assualt,” Abu said.”

Justice Akintoye adjourned till November 1, for continuation of hearing.

This Ghananian Model Is Saving Africa’s Melanin One Online Petition At A Time

After that distasteful racially motivated Dove ad, we think Africa and the overall melanated community has had enough of the socially set standards as to what constitutes better skin.

They have since apologized for being caught out the second time stating

“An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of colour thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offence it caused. As part of a campaign for Dove body wash, a three-second video clip was posted to the US Facebook page. This did not represent the diversity of real beauty which is something Dove is passionate about and is core to our beliefs, and it should not have happened. We have removed the post and have not published any other related content. We apologize deeply and sincerely for the offence that it has caused.”

That’s why Ghanian model Hamamat has taken it upon herself to forever ban ads that pass that message in her country.

Hamamat drove around Accra pointing out billboards with trigger words like ‘perfect skin’ and ‘naturally fair skin’ most of which are from huge skincare companies like Nivea. She has also started an online petition to convince Ghanian president, Nana Akufo-Ado to end this ‘attack’ on dark skin.

On what started this passionate protest, Hamamat stated:

People often ask me what inspires me in life right now and about why I do what I do. Here’s why.

With nearly 70% of women (some men) using skin lightening and bleaching creams across Africa, I wonder to myself:

How is it that skin lighteners have become a common part of life in our communities across the continent which is home to an estimated two-thirds of the world’s darker-skinned population?

I’ve read many of the social media posts in response to the recent ad post in Ghana. And, I share the same distasteful sentiments for the ad because it terribly missed the mark to capture the true essence of one’s appreciation for natural beauty.

But, it has ignited a necessary worldwide conversation that “we” – starting with the adults, parents, community leaders, activists need to address more consciously and assertively the petition against skin lightening and bleaching.

The negative effects: kidney and liver failure, skin cancer, hypopigmentation should be enough to take a stronger stand.

For me, I believe Africa is awake. We understand who we are and we know we have the power to change our future by correcting our mistakes today.

Join me by signing the Say No to Skin Lightening and Bleaching Petition which we will present to government officials to tighten the FDA’s regulations against such products.

The Dove controversy comes two years after the cosmetics brand faced a wave of criticism for the product literature on one of its self-tanning products. The “summer glow” lotion, aimed at people with “normal to dark skin”, was labelled racist because it suggested that consumers with darker skin were not “normal”.
