Construction Workers Trapped As 7-Storey Building Collapses In Port Harcourt

A 7-story building located opposite the Boss at Woji Road in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Port Harcourt, collapsed yesterday evening November 23, 2018.

According to reports, over 30 people including construction workers were in the building when it collapsed.

An eyewitness said the building “just collapsed on the busy workers”.

The Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Rivers, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident and described it as “unfortunate”.

“As we speak, I cannot state the number of casualties; rescue operation is already ongoing.

“We are doing our best to save as many lives as possible.”

The South-South Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Martins Ejike said that the agency’s officers are also participating in the rescue operations.

“The only thing I can tell you now is that NEMA personnel are part of the rescue team,”
