Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has joined a thread after she referred her husband as a ‘general’, a title he dropped since 2015.
Yesterday, President Buhari had said that anyone who disrupts the forthcoming general elections by snatching ballot could pay with their lives. He said:
”Anybody who decides to snatch boxes or lead thugs to disturb the election, maybe that would be the last unlawful action you would take. I have given the military and police the order to be ruthless.
”I am going to warn anybody who thinks he would lead a body of thugs in his locality to snatch boxes or to disturb the voting system; he would do it at the expense of his/her own life.”
While many Nigerians are condemning the President’s comment because the Electoral Act prescribes two years in jail, not death, for persons found guilty of snatching or destroying election materials. Others noted that the president’s statement is a veiled sanction for security operatives to kill (extrajudicially) those who run afoul of the electoral law.
The wife of the president, Aisha, took to her Twitter page, shared the video of her husband’s comment and referred him as GMB (General Muhammadu Buhari) which he dropped since 2015, instead of the usual PMB (President Muhammadu Buhari).
A lot of Nigerians have reacted to that, with some saying, the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari is once again not on the same stand with the President, She referred him as a dictator and mocked him over his ‘military’ comment.
