18-Year-Old Girl, Hadiza Babayo Kidnaps Her Cousin For N6 Million Ransom In Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old girl, Hadiza Babayo for kidnapping her uncle’s 4-year-old daughter, Miss Aishatu Mohammed.

Hadiza Babayo allegedly kidnapped to the little girl after school along with her boyfriend, Bala Shuaibu, and kept her at a hotel in Nayi-Nawa area of Gombe metropolis and demanded N6 million as ransom from her parents.

While parading the two suspects on Friday, September 20, 2019, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mary Malum, noted Babayo and her boyfriend Shuaibu were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) based on credible intelligence for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.

During the course of interrogation, Hadiza Babayo confessed to the crime and stated how she and Bala Shuaibu, abducted the victim from Gombe High school and kept her in a hotel at Nayi-Nawa quarters Gombe, where they demanded a ransom of six million naira (N6m) from the victim’s father before she could be released.

“After bringing her from school, I arranged to take her to my boyfriend (Shuaibu), we wanted to use the opportunity to get money from my uncle since he had not shown me enough care,” Babayo stated.

SP Mary Malum said that the SARS operatives who responded swiftly, rescued the victim unhurt, without any ransom.
