Nigerian Man Claims He Lost A Potential Job Offer In China Because Of His Nationality
A Nigerian man identified as Aaron Chukwuemeka claims he was denied a job in China after revealing his nationality during a job interview.
Chukwuemeka, who took to his Twitter page, narrated the story of how he lost a potential job offer due to his Nigerian nationality.
According to him, his interview was going smoothly via Skype until it got to the stage where he was asked his nationality. He said he proudly told them he is a Nigerian with an African passport.
“I responded with all confidence that I hold an African passport, Nigerian to be precise,” he said in a Twitter thread.
Two seconds after he revealed his nationality, the interviewer told him that his application cannot be accepted.

Chukwuemeka said that he was told that the government/immigration requirements for a work visa are only open to South Africa, the United States, Canada, and Europeans.
“I am sorry we cannot take your application further because the government/immigration requirements for work visa is only open to South Africa, UK, USA, Canada and Europe,” he was shockingly told.

The young man noted he tried to persuade them and offered an alternative but he was shut down.
“Immediately my countenance changed, I tried all I could to persuade and possibly offer an alternative,” Chukwuemeka sadly says.
He stated that he felt like crying and wished he had dual citizenship.
