Nigerians have taken to social media to complain about the ‘special treatment’ given to heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, while processing his national ID card.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) had taken to its Twitter page and shared photos of Anthony Joshua registering for his National Identification Number (NIN).
In the photos, British-Nigerian boxer was seen during the registration of the National ID card, and after he was issued his NIN slip same day.
NIMC posted the photos in an attempt to encourage other Nigerians to enroll for the NIN.
However, following the tweet, many Nigerians have taken to social media to complain about how cumbersome the process is in getting the NIN, stating that if the process was made easier for them just like they did for Anthony Joshua, they would have applied for theirs.
I gave up on this foolish National ID exercise the very first day I went for the enrollment. Why do I have to go through such stress for something that won't be out in 5years? https://t.co/JlKl2bDq7d

Why cant you guys make it this easy for vast majority of Nigerians this same way? Anthony Joshua is a special Nigerian right? God is watching all of us. @iammaleekpholly @Gidi_Traffic @nairaland @trafficbutter @nidcom_gov https://t.co/RRV8rLOVTQ

Comforting that Anthony Joshua got a slip too. Now let his National Id card not be ready just like mine isn’t since 2013 https://t.co/CITKFt8nM8

It's only in Nigeria that your National ID would expire before you even set your eyes on it.
In acceptance of their failure to produce permanent National ID for citizens, they have settled for the continuous usage of the temporary card & the good thing is, it would never expire https://t.co/hwNO8A7Ov6

All I'm waiting for is how long it will take Anthony Joshua to get his National ID after registration, because some people have registered since 2015 and they're yet to get it, with the lil Mathematics that I know, Anthony Joshua should get his National ID by 2025 or we protest.

Anthony Joshua has gotten the National ID he enrolled for the same day. I registered since 2015, maybe the original will be out by the time I am done having children.
Very insane country.

On the flip side, Anthony Joshua would get his National ID tomorrow. He's not a common man like you and me. This system is not meant for the common man, it's meant for the rich and connected. Stop stressing it. Get rich or japa.

Anthony Joshua: In summary, to God we are created equal, but to men what you have made out of your life determines how you will be treated. #NIMC https://t.co/oOTzoScOQA

it wont amaze me if @anthonyfjoshua gets his National Identification Card instantly. But for every other ordinary Nigerians like me, it takes YEARS to get a permanent national ID card https://t.co/t8mqDP9awi

Anthony Joshua should expect to get his original National ID by 2025. https://t.co/yBQEoaai6I

Some of us enrolled for National ID over 5 years ago & just have the Temporary Slip while the Permanent one will most likely come when we have Grand Children.
In this Nigeria just have money https://t.co/XIotLwaYaj
