Presidency Reacts As Young Man ‘Attacks’ President Buhari During Argungu Festival In Kebbi [Video]

The Presidency has reacted to a viral video that shows the moment an unknown young man allegedly attempted to attack President Muhammadu Buhari during his visit to Argungu Fishing Festival in Kebbi State.

In the viral video, the President could be seen posing for a picture session with the Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and other dignitaries.

All of sudden, a young man bombed into the session and headed straight for the President.

A quick intervention of the security operatives present who moved quickly and apprehended the man, saved the day.

However, in a statement Thursday night, Presidential adviser, Femi Adesina said it was not an attempted attack by the man, against the president.

He explained that the young man was only excited to see the president and made attempt to get close to him without knowing the security implications of his manner of approach.

“President Muhammadu Buhari was in Kebbi State Thursday to declare open the Argungu Fishing and Cultural Festival. It was the first time the international tourism event would hold in eleven years, as security considerations had rendered it impracticable,” Adesina said.

“As the President went round the arena to inspect rice pyramids on display, and take photographs with farmers, a young man was so very excited to see his President so close. He made an attempt to get to him.

“World over, such would not be allowed by security details. The young man was prevented, and he protested that he should be allowed to greet his President. Now, professional contortionists are making mischief of the event. They are passing the video clip off on social media as an attempt to attack the President.

“Malicious people always twist things to give a negative narrative. But they simply dash their heads against the wall. The country moves on”.

KanyiDaily recalls that last month when Buhari went to sympathize with the people of Borno State over Boko Haram attacks, the president was booed in the state described as his greatest stronghold.
