APC Crisis: Victor Giadom Warns Party Members Ahead Of NEC Meeting With President Buhari

The factional acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Victor Giadom has warned members of the party to surrender to a ‘higher organs’, ahead of their National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Buhari had on Wednesday endorsed Victor Giadom as the Acting National Chairman of the ruling party.

The presidency also disclosed that Buhari will be attending the party’s NEC meeting which was convened by Giadom, slated for Thursday at the Aso Rock .Villa

Rather resolving the APC crisis, Buhari’s support for Giadom threw the party into more confusion as 17 members of the NWC insisted the NEC meeting convened by Giadom, was illegal.

The NWC members also said they would not attend the NEC meeting, insisting that Buhari was blackmailed to support it.

However, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics on Wednesday night, Giadom expressed concern that his colleagues do not want to surrender their situation to a higher organ of the party that can find solution for it. He said:

“My position is very clear. The National Working Committee cannot resolve the present situation in our party; a higher organ of the party, which is the National Executive Committee of the party has the responsibility to wade into the situation that we find ourselves.

“But I am worried about some of my colleagues who do not want to surrender the situation that we find ourselves to a higher organ of the party that can find solution for all of us.

“I, therefore, want to advise everybody, my colleagues and the entire NEC members to avail themselves to the zoom code that has been circulated to them and attend the meeting as scheduled,” Giadom said.

KanyiDaily had reported that the APC has been embroiled in a leadership crisis following the appeal court ruling that upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the party.

On Tuesday, Giadom had announced that he has taken over the leadership of the party after Oshiomhole’s suspension, dismissing the party’s announcement of the former Oyo governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as acting chairman.

However, the national working committee of the APC overruled him and appointed Hillard Eta, vice chairman of the party (south-south), to stand in place for Ajimobi who was “unavoidably absent”.
