Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Bans Football Viewing Centres To Curb Coronavirus Spread In Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has banned all football viewing centers in order to prevent further spread of the Coronavirus in the state.

The governor who announced the ban on Monday, expressed displeasure over the rate at which the people of the state were disobeying the restriction order of the government against fighting the deadly disease.

Akeredolu said the increasing spread of the virus was as a result of non-compliance of the residents, to the directives of the State government.

He said the government would not relent in efforts to continue enforcing the restriction, in line with this as the European football league season had commenced, the Governor banned football viewing centres across the 18 local government areas of the State.

“All residents are encouraged to practise, more than before, social and physical distancing, use of facemasks, handwashing and travel restriction.

“All Premiership football viewing centres are hereby banned from operations until further notice.

“All religious organisations are to further ensure stringent implementation of the agreed guidelines for worship.”

Akeredolu also directed that all the people that had patronised the woman ( 43rd case) who was just discovered to have contacted the disease at Oja Oba market, Akure should report themselves to the COVID-19 Team of the state government, in their own interest.

According to the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control (NCNC), Ondo state currently have 42 cases of coronavirus that has infected 12,801 across the country.
