Ex-NIMASA Executive Director, Ezekiel Agaba Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison For N1.5 Billion Fraud

A former Executive Director of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for laundering the sum of N1.5 billion.

The sentence was handed down to him on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, by Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had alleged that Agaba, who was in charge of Maritime, Safety and Shipping, looted N1.5 billion from the agency in 2015.

According to the EFCC, the convict fraudulently conspired with the then-Director General, Patrick Akpobolokemi, to obtain the huge sum by false pretence from the Federal Government after which it was fraudulently converted.

This is a developing story… More details later.
