Barcelona Announces Ronald Koeman As Their New Manager After Sacking Quique Setien

Barcelona have replaced Quique Setien with Ronald Koeman who spent six years as a player at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona Football Club on Wednesday officially announced the appointment of Ronald Koeman as the club’s new head coach for two years.

Koeman replaced Quique Setien, who was sacked after the club’s 8-2 loss against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Koeman who spent six years as a Barcelona player at the Nou Camp between 1989 and 1995, will manage the club until June 30, 2022.

“FC Barcelona and Ronald Koeman have reached an agreement for the Dutchman to take over as the first-team coach until 30 June 2022,” the club said in a statement.

Koeman comes to FC Barcelona after coaching in the Premier League, La Liga, the Dutch league, the Portuguese league, and also on the international stage with the Netherlands.

Koeman is due to speak at a news conference at 17:00 BST.

KanyiDaily reports that the sacking of Quique Setien as Barcelona’s head coach is coming just seven (7) months after he replaced Ernesto Valverde.
