The Senior Pastor of the Household of God Church, Chris Okotie has advised Christians against wearing face masks to church.
Pastor Chris was reacting to the directive by the Lagos State Government that religious gathering in churches by Christians in the state would commence from Sunday, August 9, 2020.
Also, the government had instructed that COVID-19 standard prevention and control measures such as temperature checks, use of face masks and physical distancing, must be adhered to when churches reopen.
Reacting in 28-minute broadcast to his congregants sent via WhatsApp, Pastor Chris insisted that his church will not open until “everything is decent and in order”.
The man of God noted that wearing face masks to church, is against the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Okotie said:
“When a man is standing before God in church wearing a shield or mask, he is denying the finished work of the cross.
“Before we offer our sacrifices and lift up holy hands before God, we must make sure that everything is decent and in order.
“We must only follow the protocols outlined in the Bible, not any directive that violates the basic tenets of our faith.”
Meanwhile, Prophet TB Joshua had also disclosed that his church would remain closed until he hear from God about reopening the worship centre amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
