Ngige Asks Governor Obiano To Banish 12 Suspended Anambra Monarchs Over Visit To Buhari

Ngige said Prince Arthur Eze, who led the monarchs to Buhari, should also be punished accordingly for sabotage.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has called on the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, to banish the 12 monarchs who went to Abuja without the state government’s authorisation.

KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Obiano had suspended the 12 monarchs for one year after they travelled to Abuja with the oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, to report the Governor to President Muhammad Buhari.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Punch over the weekend, Ngige said the monarchs’ suspension was not enough punishment. He added that Prince Arthur Eze that led them to the trip should also be punished accordingly, for sabotage.

“When somebody is suspended from performing the functions of his office, it’s natural that he be barred from being in that vicinity. Allowing him to stay around is risky because he is a threat to peace. In order to avert such threat, he should be sent out to another place to prevent possible conduct likely to cause breach of law and order in the vicinity.

“So, I advise the Anambra State government to relocate these 12 traditional rulers from their communities to avoid a situation likely to cause breach of public peace. The businessman (Arthur Eze) who took them to the Abuja trip should be punished for sabotage,” he said.

KanyiDaily recalls that Igwe MacAnthony Okonkwo, the traditional ruler of Alor community in Idemili Local Government Area of the state (where Ngige hails from), had apologised to Governor Obiano for violating certain rules guiding the operation of monarchs in the state.
