A fight broke out at polling unit 19, ward 04, Oredo local government area of Edo, as the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his wife, Betsy, have casted their votes.
It was learned that the incident occurred at Emokpae Model Primary School in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) attacked each other shortly after the governor arrived at his polling unit for accreditation and voting.
It was gathered that trouble started after a PDP youth leader simply identified as Jimoh hit a supporter of another party.
The politician was said to have mistaken the observer for another party agent and challenged him for sitting on a seat meant for the electoral officials.
As a result, both men engaged in an altercation as other electorates at the venue watched. The situation was later brought under control following the intervention of the security agencies on the ground.
Representatives of the two leading political parties in the state traded words over who should be blamed for the incident.
Governor Obaseki and his wife later casted their botes at his polling unit,019, Ward 04, Oredo LGA, Benin City, on Saturday.
