Chairman, Northern Traditional Rulers Council and Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar (III), has described the killings in the southern part of Kaduna State as “madness” that has to be stopped immediately.
The Sultan stated this when the traditional rulers in the 19 Northern States and the Abuja met in Kaduna on Monday, September 7, 2020, over the disturbing spate of insecurity in the region and the country.
In his opening address, the Sultan called on those involved in killings in Southern Kaduna to stop the act, adding that no man in his right senses go on a killing spree of innocent people under whatever guise.
“The Southern Kaduna killings is madness and has to be stopped immediately. No man in his right senses go on a killing spree of innocent people under whatever guise,” he said.
Abubakar accused politicians for being behind the lingering crisis in the southern part of Kaduna. He, however, warned that if the brains behind such atrocities did not stop they would be consumed by their own traps.
He called on the people of the state and Nigeria in general that no politicians mean well for them, adding, “lf you keep on igniting killings based on ethno-religious differences because it is the innocent children that are killed while that of the elites are protected.”
In his own remark, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, reminded the gathering that the Southern Kaduna crises had prevailed for the past 40 years since the first Kasuwan Magani riot.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor El-Rufai had claimed the “reckless statements” by some religious leaders is the real cause of the unending killings in southern part of Kaduna.
