Sowore Urges Delta Students To Demand For $4.2m Ibori Loot Returned By United Kingdom

Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore has asked students in Delta State to demand for the £4.2m looted assets by their former Governor, James Ibori, which the federal government planned to spend on some federal projects.

KanyiDaily recalls that the United Kingdom had yesterday agreed to return looted assets worth £4.2 million to Nigeria recovered from Ibori’s friends and family members.

The Federal Government had said the recovered loots would be used to fund the Lagos-Ibadan road, Abuja-Kano road, and the second Niger Bridge.

However, in a post shared on his Twitter page, Sowore said the fund should be used to subsidise exorbitant school fees paid by students of Delta State University, not on federal government projects.

“The recovered loot should be used to pay students of higher institutions in Delta . They must demand that the £4.2m Ibori loot being repatriated from the UK must be spent on schools in the state instead of accepting to pay exorbitant school fees like the N150k being charged at Delta State University. It is your money,” he tweeted.

KanyiDaily had also reported how British prosecutors seize dabout $39.3 million (30.8 million pounds) from a London lawyer, Bhadresh Gohil, who helped James Ibori in looting and laundering illegal funds from the Delta state.
