Idris Déby Itno, the son of the late President Idriss Déby of Chad, has been named the new leader of the country following the death of his father Idriss Deby.
The 37-year-old son army general has just been appointed to lead the military council following the death of his father.
The late Idriss Deby was confirmed dead an hour ago after he sustained injuries in a fight with the rebels over the weekend while fighting rebels in the north of Chad
The Chadian Army on Tuesday announced that a four-star general, who is the son of Chad’s slain president Idriss Deby Itno will replace him as the head of the military council.
The army’s spokesman, General Azem Bermandoa Agouna that “A military council has been set up headed by his son, General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.”
