Joe Igbokwe Blasts Igbos For Voting Against APC In Anambra Governorship Election

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe has lambasted Igbo people for voting against his party in the ongoing Anambra governorship election.

KanyiDaily had reported that after the collation of results from 20 out of 21 local government areas of Anambra on Sunday, Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is leading with 103,946 votes.

Soludo is followed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Valentine Ozigbo who got 51,322 votes, while Andy Uba of APC had 42,942 votes.

Reacting to the development on his Facebook page, Joe Igbokwe asked the Igbo people to stop playing “ethnic politics”, warning that they “will continue to be onlookers”.

The APC chieftain added that the failure of South-East people to vote APC will have a negative impact on the region, adding Ndigbo can’t continue to play politics of Isolation.

Joe Ibokwe Reacts To Anambra Election

Igbokwe wrote: “I had thought that Igbo will move beyond ethnic politics and work to connect to the center to meet other Nigerian, but ife ji Ndigbo jisi ha ike. We will continue to be onlookers.”

He added: “Politics is a game of numbers. Igbo cannot continue to play politics of isolation in the 21st century and expect that a miracle will happen. It is time to build bridges and not burn bridges.”

Meanwhile, APC has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the Anambra governorship election.

APC accused the APGA of rigging the election in connivance with “corrupt-minded INEC officials”, warning that “if INEC goes ahead to announce the results, we will definitely challenge the election process in the court of law, up to the Supreme Court.”
