The monarch’s brother, Malam Jibrin D. Gimba, who is the Chief Imam of the Community’s Central Mosque, confirmed that the traditional ruler was abducted around 9:32 pm on Wednesday.
Gimba said the monarch was taking fresh air in front of his palace when the gunmen started shooting randomly to frighten locals before whisking the monarch away.
He said, “I left the palace a few minutes after the incident when my brother told me he wanted to go and take his bath because the heat is too much.
“After that, he decided to sit out to receive fresh air before going to bed when all of a sudden these men came from nowhere and opened fire. I watched through my window and discovered that the kidnappers had whisked him away.”
Gimba said the abductors of the monarch had not made contact with the family yet, adding that the attack was the third in the community.
When contacted, the FCT Police Command spokeswoman Josephine Adeh said she was yet to confirm the incident and promised to get back after confirmation.
