CBN Reacts To Reports About Emefiele’s Sack

Following the reports about the removal of Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari, the CBN has reacted accordingly.

Recall that news about Emefiele’s sack emerged online a few hours ago which stirred controversy as people questioned the power the president has to sack the CBN Governor.

However, amid the viral report, the head of corporate communications of the Central Bank, Osita Nwanisiobi when contacted disclosed that it is not true and dismissed the reports as mere rumours.

In addition to this, Reno Omokri in a recent tweet also claimed to have spoken with a top official in the CBN and he dismissed the reports as false also.

The tweet reads:

“I spoke to a very top shot in the CBN about the news that Buhari sacked CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele. His response ‘as far as I know, it is false’.

I was against Emefiele running and retaining his post. But dont celebrate the downfall of a man God has not fallen
