2023: Charly Boy Issues Stern Warning To INEC

He said INEC should not even think of doing what he calls “Ojoro” in pidgin, which simply means rigging in this context.

Nigerian music veteran and activist, Charly Boy has issued a stern warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the method of transmitting the 2023 general election results.

INEC Says It Would Transmit 2023 Election Result Manually

INEC had said it would collate results of the 2023 general elections manually despite adopting the electronic transmission of results.

National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye disclosed this during an interview Punch last Saturday.

Okoye had said the electoral umpire would transmit results from polling units to its result-viewing portal, IReV, as witnessed in recent elections

INEC Denies Saying It Would Transmit Results Manually

However, in an apparent backlash from Nigerians on social media who accused INEC of laying the foundation for rigging the 2023 elections with its plan to manually transmit results, the commission later backtracked its comment.

Okoye said his comment was misinterpreted, maintaining that the electronic transmission of results adopted in recent governorship polls has come to stay.

According to him, the electronic transmission of election results has boosted the INEC’s credibility, stressing that the commission is not contemplating a revert to the manual process of result transmission.

Charly Boy Reacts To How INEC Wants To Transmit 2023 Election Result

Reacting, Charly Boy took to his official twitter handle on Monday to issue a stern warning to the electoral body.

He said INEC should not even think of doing what he calls “Ojoro” in pidgin, which simply means rigging in this context.

The music star, who recently met with former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, said any attempt by INEC to rigg the 2023 elections will consume the country.

He added that Nigerian youths are no longer are no longer like before, stressing that the commission will be dealt if it tries anything funny.

“WARNING TO INNEC. By AfreaFada.

“I come in peace, but just to advice Innec people NEVER ever to think about dat Ojoro dem wan play. At least una don feel small backlash yesterday,” he wrote.

“Take it from me, any Bullshit will consume all of us.

“The New Nigerian youths are no longer what dey use to be, If una do anyhow una go see anyhow, because the exceptional Nigerian youths are ready. @nigerianyouthsdecide

In other news, Kanyi Daily had reported that Charly Boy had revealed why he would have married one of his daughters off to Afrobeats Singer, Made Kuti.

He noted that he was “impressed” by the son of the Afrobeats legend, Femi Kuti,  after meeting him for the first time.
