The Lagos State Police Command has promised to appreciate and reward any tip that can lead to the arrest of a suspected thief captured on CCTV camera stealing a car part in the Ikoyi area of the state.
Spokesman of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin stated this in a terse post on his official twitter handle on Wednesday.
In the post by Hundeyin, attached with a 1:13 seconds video, a man, disguised as a dispatch rider was captured on camera stealing something from a packed car.
The unidentified man first surveyed the surrounding, paced up and down to make sure no one was watching, then came back, opened the car and removed something from it. He then hurriedly placed the thing in his dispatch carrier and rode off.
According to the police spokesman, the incident recently happened in Ikoyi.
He added that the part of the car stolen is the ECU, popularly called brainbox, and called on car owners to give extra attention to the security of their vehicles.
He wrote, “Any tip leading to his arrest will be appreciated and rewarded. This happened in Ikoyi recently. ECU popularly called brainbox stolen in a jiffy. Extra attention needs to be given to the security of vehicles.”
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily had reported that the state police command arrested and arraigned four suspects for vandalising and stealing car parts in the state.
