Actress Sonia Mbele’s Son Accused Of Assault, Attempted Rape By His Girlfriend [Photos]

Donell Mbele, the son of popular South African actress Sonia Mbele, has been accused of assaulting his girlfriend and attempting to rape her after she confronted him for allegedly cheating on her with other women.

It was gathered that the girlfriend simply identified as Omphile found out that Donnel had been cheating on her, and when she confronted him, he beat her up and almost raped her.

Omphile, who disclosed that this was Donnel’s fifth time assaulting her, shared photos of the injuries allegedly inflicted on her by the actress’s son.

“This man abused me on four different occasions. Each time, worse than the last. And on the most recent time, I wanted to [l]ay charges but was conflicted by so many things.

“Firstly, my love for him. I put him before myself and all I thought about was his future and how selfish I’d be to ruin it,” she wrote.

She also shared a screenshot of chats purportedly from Donell where he admitted to physical abuse and attempted rape of the lady.

Sharing photos of her injuries, Omphile wrote: “Donell cheated and when I found out he beat me up. He has been deleting all my posts from my account cause he doesn’t want the work to see what a dog he is.”

In a video shared on her Instagram story, Omphile was seen crying uncontrollably while trying to narrate the assault she suffered in the hands of Donnel Mbele.

Sonia Mbele Breaks Her Silence

Reacting to the allegations in a statement shared on her Twitter page, Sonia Mbele vowed to make her son face his demons and take accountability for his actions.

The actress said she woke up this morning (Wednesday, 23 November) to a different world, a world she thought she had long buried.

She said from the age of 17 to 26 she was with a man who was physically, psychologically and emotionally abusive.

“I’m mentioning this so that you understand that as a woman who has suffered all kinds of abuse, I do not stand for, support or condone such stance.

“These are struggles I’ve spoken about extensively in my early career to encourage other women in similar situations,” she said.

Sonia further said she not only welcomed the girlfriend into her home, but she treated her as a daughter and worked with her in support of her career in the entertainment industry.

The actress said she would like to reassure her that she still had her love and full support.

She said as a mother she wished she had come to her to inform her on what was going on because finding out on social media broke her heart.

“I’ve always been there. I’ve always been supportive. I now realise I should have taken preventative measures much earlier such as counselling or child therapy.

“But sometimes the mistake we tend to make as African single mothers is to assume and hope that things will work out for the best meanwhile certain past behaviours can affect generations to come,” she said.

Though Donell is the one accused, sadly, his famous mother is the one getting smeared and many Twitter users are not OK with this.
