Terrorists have abducted the Catholic priest of St. Bernard, Idon Gida, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Rev. Fr. Abraham Kunat.

The Chancellor, Archdiocese of Kaduna, Rev. Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the priest was kidnapped at St. Mulumba, Krumin Sara, Kachia Local Government Area of the state.

The statement reads, “Rev. Fr. Abraham Kunat, the Parish Priest of St. Bernard, Idon Gida, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State was abducted, Tuesday, 8th November 2022 at about 12:30 pm.

“The incident took place at St Mulumba, Kurmin Sara, Kachia LGA, where Fr Kunat has been residing all along due to the insecurity situation.

“We solicit for the prayerful support of the faithful and indeed all men and women of goodwill that God Almighty will take control of the situation, preserve our priest, and bring him back to us in peace.”

The State Christian Association of Nigeria Chairman, Reverend Joseph Hayeb, also confirmed that the priest was picked up by the hoodlums at Kurmin Sara area of Kachia LGA.

“It is a sad situation because he is the priest of Idom but was picked at his village Kurmin Sara in Kachia LGA. It’s a very sad situation because many things are happening in the state unreported,” he said.

Hayeb said a lot needs to be done to secure the residents from criminal elements terrorizing the people across the state.

When contacted, the state Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige did not take his call nor respond to a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.

KanyiDaily had also reported how gunmen kidnapped a Catholic priest, Fr Chinedu Nwadike, and a seminarian, Emmanuel Nwafor, on their way to Enugu State.
