Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has vowed that he won’t apologize for his ethnic slur against Igbos in Lagos.

KanyiDaily recalls that Bayo Onanuga warned Igbos in Lagos, saying this year 2023 should be the last time they interfere in Lagos politics, stressing that the state belongs to Yorubas.

Reacting to the outrage trailing his comment, Bayo Onanuga stated that his statements on Twitter are his personal views, and after all, he is first of all a Yoruba before being a Nigerian.

He said: “Let me make myself abundantly clear: the views I express on Twitter are my personal views. I don’t owe anyone any apology for addressing the existential threats of our people. I am, after all, first of all a Yoruba before being a Nigerian.”

There are indications that Bayo Onanuga was referring to the 2023 presidential elections, in which the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi defeated Bola Tinubu of APC in his stronghold, Lagos state.
