Iya Chukwudi Is My Sister, My Threat Against Igbos Was Only A Joke – MC Oluomo [Video]

Chairman of the Lagos Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, otherwise known as MC Oluomo, has recanted his threat against Igbo voters in Lagos.

KanyiDaily recalls that MC Oluomo was caught on camera threatening anyone who intends to vote for a party other than the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stay at home during the Lagos governorship election on Saturday.

His reference to “Iya Chukwudi” in the video suggested that his message was directed at Igbo voters in Lagos who are believed to have leaning towards the Labour Party in the elections.

The comment elicited criticism on and off social media as many Nigerians asked security operatives to arrest MC Oluomo for threatening Igbo people.

Reacting in an interview with Arise TV, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa said the video clips are being reviewed and the threats are subjects of an ongoing investigation.

MC Oluomo Recants Threat Against Igbo Voters In Lagos

In a video shared on social media, the transport union leader said his comment that generated controversy is a playful remark with his sister, whose name is “Iya Chukwudi”.

MC Oluomo, who insisted that he was not referring to Igbo people residing in Lagos, said he has always been on the “side of peace” in his activities.

He said, “The meeting I went to yesterday, the person I was referring to is my sister – Iya Chukwudi. I was referring to Iya Chukwudi, saying if you will not vote for APC, please sit down at home.

“The viral video which was edited to reflect the malicious intend of the false purveyors only captured where I was joking with an Igbo woman that we will not be happy if she stayed in the house then vote against my party (referring to APC).

“The video was captured when I was holding a meeting with some residents of Oshodi , Isolo and Ejigbo which include Igbos and the woman referred to as “Iya Chukwundi” was in the meeting,” he said.

“I am surprised that the joke I was cracking with Iya Chukwundi has been twisted to mean I am threatening Igbo in Lagos.

“I wonder why people would always want to twist your words or a deliberate act to misconstrue my words to suit their selfish interest. The video was edited to only show where I made the joke and they attached a negative message to it.

“I was only joking. I did not threaten Igbo. Please ask Igbo in Oshodi, they will tell you that I did not threaten any Igbo,” MC Oluomo added.

The woman in question, Mrs Uche also debunked the claim, saying she had a cordial relationship with MC Oluomo. She stressed that she had been supplying him noodles for a long time, showing how cordial their relationship was.

Mr Uche stated that her attention was drawn to the viral video by her daughter. She said it was a joke directed at her at the meeting and that she was equally surprised that people edited the video and were claiming that MC Oluomo was threatening Igbo.

She said “I am still surprised. I never knew the joke MC cracked with me yesterday has been twisted by people.

“Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya is a lover of Igbo and the message is not a threat, rather in the meeting, he said he wants me to vote for him (APC) and that he would prefer I stay at home than vote against him and we all laughed it off.”
