Lagos State Fire Service Rescue 8-Year-Old Boy From Sinking In Canal

An 8-year-old boy, Onyeka Umeh has been rescued from sinking in a canal by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

The incident happened at Ojediran Street behind Oba’s Palace; Ejigbo, Lagos.

This was disclosed in a statement posted on the Twitter handle of the service late Monday night.

According to the statement, the distress call which was alerted at 15:20.hours had Ejigbo Fire Station and the Agency’s Rescue Crew mobilized to salvage the sinking boy from the canal.

The statement said the boy was eventually handed over to the Police from Ejigbo Division to reunite with his family.

Umeh alongside a friend was picking pet bottles among others around the canal before trailing it to his drowning spot while his companion raised the alarm leading to his eventual rescue alive

“It is instructive to keep a close tab on our children and wards and provide the much-needed guidance to preserving their safety,” the statement added.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that a 24-year-old man, Agbo Onuabuchi has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for murder.

Onuabuchi was nabbed by the police for strangling to death and burying his 44-year-old friend in a shallow grave.
