Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has received the president-elect, Bola Tinubu in Port-Harcourt for a two-day official visit to the state.

KanyiDaily recalls that Wike declared Wednesday a public holiday and ordered the closure of all schools and businesses to enable residents give Tinubu a rousing welcome.

Tinubu will be on a two-day official visit to Rivers to commission the Rumuola/Rumuokwuta flyover and the ultra-modern Magistrates’ Court Complex, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 3 and 4, respectively.

Governor Wike and his entourage received Tinubu at the Port Harcourt International Airport when his jet touched down at about 10:03 am on Wednesday.

There was jubilation among residents of the state, who gathered at the airport as Tinubu and his entourage disembarked the jet.

Leaders that accompanied Wike to receive Tinubu were the National and state Assembly members, PDP leaders, local government chairmen and government appointees.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as well as the governors of Jigawa, Oyo, Ebonyi, Kwara, Imo, amongst others accompanied Tinubu to the function.

Supporters of the governor were also present to receive Tinubu as they were allowed into the tarmac area under strict security control.

The President-elect will also be hosted at a state banquet later in the evening.

KanyiDaily recalls that a former lawmaker, Shehu Sani had accused Governor Nyesom Wike of being desperate for favour and accommodation from Bola Tinubu.
