In a statement on Wednesday, Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary revealed that the 64-year-old singer was admitted to intensive care last Sunday due to a “serious bacterial infection”.
Madonna has now been transported to her New York residence in a private ambulance, and sources confirmed that she is now in a stable condition.
The exact cause of her infection remains unknown, but it was severe enough to require intensive care treatment.
The popstar had been preparing for her upcoming seven-month world tour, but it has now been postponed.
She was in the final stages of rehearsals for her 40th-anniversary world tour, which would have marked her 12th tour in her four-decade-long career in the music industry.
Details regarding the rescheduling of the tour and the new start date are yet to be announced.
Her manager, Guy Oseary, stated that all commitments, including the tour, need to be put on hold for now. Further updates will be shared once more information becomes available.
Oseary said: “At this time we need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Madonna had come under fire after she posted a video of her teenage son, David Banda, dancing to ‘stamp out racism’ after a black man, George Floyd, was murdered by a white police officer.
