Tupac Shakur To Be Honoured With Posthumous Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Late legendary American rapper, Tupac Shakur will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as announced by the organization on Wednesday, May 31.

The star will be accepted by his sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, on behalf of the late rapper, during a ceremony on June 7 on Hollywood Boulevard. Shakur’s star will be placed in the “Recording” category, and the event will be hosted by radio personality Big Boy.

The producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez in a statement on Wednesday, highlighted his multifaceted talent, stating, “Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary.

“This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come.”

“Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars,” Martinez added.

Tupac Shakur, known for hits like “California Love,” had a profound impact on the music industry and a dedicated global fan base before his tragic death in 1996 at the age of 25.

He sold over 75 million records worldwide, with his albums “All Eyez on Me” and “Greatest Hits” achieving Diamond certification.

In addition to his music, Tupac achieved success in the film industry, receiving critical acclaim for his roles in movies such as “Juice,” “Poetic Justice,” “Above The Rim,” “Gridlock’d,” and “Gang Related.”

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Shakur was recognized as an activist, using his platform to advocate for the rights of Black Americans.

A recent docuseries called “Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur” shed light on Tupac’s life, exploring the influence of his mother, Afeni Shakur.

The director of the series, Allen Hughes, will also be present at the star unveiling.

Earlier this month, the late rapper received another tribute when Oakland, California, renamed a street “Tupac Shakur Way” following a unanimous city council vote.

Meanwhile, Hip-hop acts, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj were recently ranked as the best male and female rappers of all time by Billboard.
