During an interview on Naija FM in Lagos, Blackface claimed that Burna Boy and Wizkid’s song “Ginger” bears striking resemblances to his own track “Twist & Turn” in terms of rhythm, beat, and melody flows.

He noted that only the verses were altered, implying that the overall structure and essence remained the same.

In addition, Blackface accused Asake of sampling his song “Ikebe Supa” in Asake’s own track titled “Joha.”

Blackface expressed his disappointment, stating that although he serves as an inspiration to these musicians, they have failed to give him due credit.

He clarified that he doesn’t mind young artists sampling his work but takes issue with the lack of authorization and proper acknowledgment.

“Young ones dey get inspiration from my music. The first person wey sample my music na Wizkid when he do ‘Baby girl I like the way you whine it.’ When I release these records, dem go find the one wey dem like and dem go turn am to their own,” he said.

“Ginger’ by Wizkid and Burna [Boy] is [a sample of] my track ‘Twist & Turn’; the rhythms, the beat, how the melody starts and ends. Na only the verses dem change.

“Asake’s ‘Joha’ is [a sample of] my song ‘Ikebe Supa.’ I dey inspire them,” Blackface added.
